Sometimes before you even realize it, a new trend in mens suit fashion appears. Usually it doesn’t take much of a nudge except for the right person to start it. The right person seems to be our President Barack Obama. President Obama seems to have nudged mens suits in a whole new direction and that direction is the two button suit. For several years now, mens suits were worn pretty much one way and that is three button. Since President Obama has come into office the suit trend has firmly shifted to two button suits. I’ve been noticing all sorts of men wearing them on the news and ESPN as well.
One of the advantages I see to wearing a two button suit is that on a two button suit the lapel drop is much deeper, meaning that more of your necktie is showing. On a three button suit you don’t see nearly as much of your tie. Two button suits have a much more European look to them as well compared to a three button suit. Mens two button suits can come with either notched lapels for an English look or with Peaked Lapels for an Italian style look. Either way you choose will look great.
